Ankha (Japanese: /ナイル Nile) is a snooty cat villager from the Animal Crossing series. Her name is based on the ankh, which is the Egyptian hieroglyphic character that reads "life".

Ankha was originally supposed to appear in Animal Crossing: Wild World, but was replaced by the anteater villager Anabelle. They both appear together in Animal Crossing: City Folk, as well as later titles.

Egyptians worshiped cats, Bastet the protective cat goddess, and the Egyptian headress. Her Japanese name is "Nile," which refers to the African river that many Egyptians settled on. Her German name, "Kleo" is short for "Kleopatra," the German version of Cleopatra, the famous Egyptian queen. As an islander in Animal Crossing, Ankha loves cherries and is allergic to apples.

AppearanceEdit

Ankha has golden fur with navy blue stripes and wears Egyptian-esque makeup around her eyes. Ankha initially wears a Red Aloha Shirt while she is an islander, but in City Folk and New Leaf, she wears the Egyptian Outfit. She wears an Egyptian headdress that resembles the Nemes crown and gives her the appearance of someone like Cleopatra. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, Ankha's headdress contains a scarab charm in place of a cobra figurine

HouseEdit

Marine Song 2001 Cover

In the first Animal Crossing, Ankha's house has only one item, which is the master sword. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, Ankha's house takes on a Egyptian look. She has the Ancient Wall and matching carpet in her house which can only be obtained from Saharah. She also has a pyramid, a sphinx, and a birdcage. When she gets a stereo, it will play Marine Song 2001.

PersonalityEdit

Below is a brief description of the snooty personality. For more information, click here.
Ankha has a snooty personality, which means she will appear arrogant and snobbish towards the player and other villagers, but will appear friendly and nice in some discussions, provided they are mature and do not insult her lifestyle. She finds appearance important, and will get angry or upset if someone criticizes her sense of style or fitness, which means a conversation between her and a villager with a jock personality may leave either one upset or angry. Her attitude towards the player changes, as she begins to warm up to them, but she will still retain some arrogance and subtle rudeness. She may not get on with lazy villagers, due to their lifestyles - lazy villagers having a strong interest in food or relaxing of which will make her uncomfortable, angry, and upset when in conversation. She will upset peppy villagers, usually by gossiping about them, and finding small things to judge them on. She will get along well with normal, cranky, and other snooty villagers. If she gets sick, she will refer to you as her "only friend."

AppearancesEdit

My Animal CrossingEdit

Ankha appears in the Wii U Animal Crossing installment My Animal Crossing, once again as a villager. Ankha acts as a pharaoh, telling others that she is the ruler of the village, though believes the mayor is the Egyptian god Ra. Befriending her is a challenge to three of the player characters, though she'll almost instantly befriend the mayor. She will not move away if she is befriended by the mayor, unless they were to not speak with her for a month. Ankha secretly wishes to become an astronaut, which she will reveal once befriended.

Should Lucky, a dog villager, live in the same town as Ankha, he will often be seen alongside her, acting as a servant to her. Ankha states the reason for this is that Lucky was her most trusted servant in a previous life, and was mummified alongside herself.

Like Animal Crossing: City Folk, Ankha's starting outfit is the Egyptian Outfit.
