Assassination Classroom: Chaos Time (Japanese: 暗殺教室: カオスの時間 Ansatsu Kyōshitsu: Kaosu no Jikan) is an action role-playing game for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home console systems, and based upon the manga and anime series Assassination Classroom. It is the first video game explicitly based upon Assassination Classroom to be released outside of Japan.

The game is developed by J-Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment, the latter of which also serves as the game's publisher. Lerche also aids development, as the company works on the game's anime cutscenes.

Gameplay Edit

Chaos Time blends a mix of action, strategy, RPG, social simulators and hack-and-slash genres. Unlike most RPG titles, battles against enemy foes are fought within the game's overworld, via a hack-and-slash-esque combat system. Not unlike titles such as Final Fantasy, however, the game features experience bars for each character, and are granted bonuses in statistics as the players level up their characters.

The player primarily controls the character of Nagisa Shiota, while two of his peers aid him in combat as artificial intelligence-controlled characters. However, at any time, the player can switch between the three students on the field at once, or two other player characters - either via local play or online play - can take control of the students.

When not in combat, the player, as Nagisa, is able to traverse the game's setting and interact with other characters. These conversations can grant bonuses to the students' statistics, and can also unlock techniques known as SR Bursts (Japanese: 殺せんせー のスーパー関係バースト! Korosensei no Sūpā Kankei Bāsuto!). These attacks use a character's special attribute in order to deal damage to all enemies present within the battle scenario.

Playable Characters Edit

The cast of playable characters in the game consists of 27 of the 28 students of Class 3-E (omitting Ritsu), Tadaomi Karasuma, and Irina Jelavić. Each character has different stats, which alter the way the player must control them. In addition, all students excel with a certain type of weapon; be it snipers, pistols, rifles, or knives. Depending on the combination of a character and weapon, the player will deal a different amount of damage.
