Chiyo Chan and the Anime Palace is an action/puzzle video game featuring characters from Anime All Star developed by Kemco and Azumanga Interactive and published by Bandai Namco Games for the Bandai Chaos and Bandai PocketTurbo. The object of the game is to guide Chiyo through a series of rooms collecting A symbols (which the A stands for Azumanga). However, four rascals are guarding the castle: Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog), Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya), Mikan Sakura (Gakuen Alice), and Tomo (Azumanga Daioh). It was the first Azumanga Interactive game made.
The game is a hack of The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle (both the NES and Game Boy versions). Except the music in both the Bandai Chaos and PocketTurbo versions have major changes on the BGM. The title screen and password screen have music from Azumanga Daioh, while the stages use original BGM made for the game.
While presented in a side-scroller format, it differed from standard side-scrollers such as Super Mario Bros. in that Chiyo Chan did not have a jump function; therefore, only by taking different routes could Chiyo avoid enemies. Some of the levels had boxing gloves, invincibility potions, safes, crates, flower pots, or ten-pound weights that could be used against the enemies in the game. As a result, the game had a "puzzle-solving" atmosphere.
The game lacks the ability to save, passwords can be used to start at a certain level in this game.
