Corneria is a stage in Super Smash Bros. Strife, returning from Super Smash Bros. Melee. The stage is based upon the recurring location of Corneria City from various Star Fox titles, but is most prominently inspired by its Star Fox 64 iteration.
Falco is fought here in his unlocking battle once the specific criteria to do so has been met.
The stage of Corneria does not take place on the planet itself, instead the battle is fought atop the Great Fox, Team Star Fox's travelling hub. The Great Fox is the sole platform, and has a very odd design. It has a nose, which protrudes out of the front of the ship (left of the stage), before dipping down a slight bit and inclining at a steep angle. The right of the stage is depressed, being lower than the main platform.
The Great Fox also has a gun on its front, which can also be stood on.
Hazards[]
Despite having a relatively simple stage layout, the stage is home to a large variety of hazards that can interrupt the battle. The most prominent are the many Arwings and Wolfens, which sometimes duel in the skies around the stage. Some of these ships will fire at the platform as they travel through the stage, and act as platforms while on-screen.
Another major hazard is the gun present on the front of the Great Fox. The gun will sometimes fire forwards, dealing an exceptional amount of damage to those standing atop it. The blasts it fires can also knock fighters off-screen, should they fall down into them.
Smash Taunt[]
Tapping the up and down taunt buttons repeatedly as either Fox or Falco will cause them to initiate a conversation between them and their associates. The conversations that occur are dependant on the background of the stage, and are identical to the ones from Melee, but have been re-recorded. Unlike in Melee and its later appearances, the headshots of the characters are taken from Star Fox 64 3D as opposed to Star Fox 64.
Fox is voiced by Mike West, Falco is voiced by Mark Lund, Peppy is voiced by Jaz Adams, and Slippy is voiced by Lyssa Browne. All four of these voice actors reprise their roles from Star Fox 64 and its 3DS remake.
