Egbert (Japanese: しもやけ Shimoyake) is a lazy chicken villager from the Animal Crossing series, appearing in all canonical games since Dōbutsu no Mori. Egbert's name comes from the word egg and the male name Burt.
Appearance[]
Egbert is a yellow chicken with striped, orange legs. He has a short orange beak. He has black rings under his eyes, which give him a tired appearance. His comb is red. He has a slightly dazed expression on his face. His initial shirt is the Swell Shirt, a black, orange, yellow and red stitched shirt.
House[]
In his house, Egbert features many items of the Robo furniture set, two Gyroids, a Mosaic Wall and a Blue Floor. His Robo-Stereo plays K.K. Technopop by default. Like all other villagers, in Animal Crossing: Wild World-onwards, his house can be customised by items sent to him by the player.

As a lazy villager, Egbert will be easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares an interest in food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food (fishing). He will get along well with other villager types such as the normal villagers who act as a mother or elder sister figure and peppy villagers who appear to be around the same age. He may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a conflicting lifestyle of exercise and fitness, who do not understand the reason behind the lazy lifestyle choice.

My Animal Crossing[]
Egbert appears as a villager in the Wii U installment of the Animal Crossing series, My Animal Crossing. In the game, he is a lazy chicken villager, and is drawn towards the Resort-type towns. He often talks about eating and sleeping (as with all the other lazy villagers), but has a fascination with robots-explaining his house choices.
If living in a farm town, Egbert will have a small pumpkin patch beside his house, and several of the pumpkins would have silly faces cut into them. During Halloween, Egbert will be one of the many villagers running around outside in a Jack costume. If you are his friend, he will not curse you (saying that he's too lazy), but if he's not, he will. He often states during the Fall season, that his favourite holiday is Halloween.
