Elle Mel Marta (Japanese: エル メル マータ Elle Mel Marta) is the main female protagonist of Tales of Xillia 2, and a central character in the game's plot. She is the Key of Kresnik, and has the power to pass freely through dimensions, even should she do so unwillingly. She also has the power to transfer this power to those she comes in contact with, as evident by the fact that she brought a resident of a fractured dimension to the Prime Dimension after its destruction.
The Elle featured prominently in Tales of Xillia 2 comes from the Fractured Dimension F41DB, the events of which follow ten years after those in the Prime Dimension. Her Prime Dimensional counterpart does not exist as of the game's canonical ending, though is hinted that she would be born in one of the game's alternate endings.
Elle is voiced by Mariya Ise in the original Japanese version of the game, and English dubbed by Brina Palencia.
Physical Appearance[]
Elle has short blonde hair tied into two twin tails with long bangs hanging in front of her ears. Atop her head she wears a black beret with a cyan butterfly pin located in the centre of its front. She wears a longer, collared pink jacket over a sea-foam green dress. She wore black tights with a blue polka-dot pattern, as well as long white socks and cyan shoes. On her back she wears a yellow backpack styled after a Paccet from the 1985 Japan-only game Baraduke; with the game's main character, Kissy, cameoing as a small charm attached to it. She also wears her father's golden Chromatus Watch around her neck after his defeat.
In Tales of Xillia 2's canonical ending, Elle is later seen in an epilogue cutscene as a young adult. At an elder age, she retains very little of the same clothing she wore as a child. Instead she wears a dark green dress shirt with the bottom unbuttoned to expose her navel as well as a dark fuchsia tie with a white tip; as well as short black jean shorts. While she continues to wear a backpack, it has brown straps decorated with blue butterfly motifs and is green in colour, showing it to be much different from the Paccet-styled one she owned as a child. She wears high grey kneesocks with pink accents, but most of them are covered by long black boots. Her hair is styled similarly to how it was as a child, though her hair is shown to be longer and she no longer allows her bangs to grow out.
