The GoldenEye universe refers to the GoldenEye series in reference to its representation within the Super Smash Bros. series of fighting games. The series, owned by Rare Ltd. (and consequently Microsoft Game Studios), is a first-person shooter series based upon the James Bond film of the same name.
The universe received minor representation in the form of a single item solely in the international versions of the game. Due to on-going negotiations between Rare Ltd. and Microsoft, GoldenEye is not directly mentioned, instead being replaced by "TOP SECRET".
It is one of the two Rare Ltd. series to be represented in the Smash Bros. series, the other being Perfect Dark.
