Guardians are enemies from the Legend of Zelda series. They are robotic, octopus-like creatures that inhabit the ruined Hyrule seen in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild whose designs are inspired by the recurring Octorok enemies.[1] A Guardian first appeared in the E3 2013 teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild, where Link destroyed one with an arrow after launching off of Epona.
The Guardians are powerful enemies that attack Link primarily by firing laser beams at him. These laser beams deal six hearts of damage. Smaller and weaker variations of the Guardians can be found in the Shrines of Trials, implying they are of Sheikah creation. They drop Ancient Springs and Ancient Screws when destroyed.
Physical Appearance[]
Guardians have an octopus-like appearance. They have six long legs that end in three-pronged claws. These legs allow them to effortlessly climb up buildings and around mountain peaks. Their bodies are of two semi-circle-like shapes, topped with a cylindrical head. Their heads have one large cyan-coloured light that seems to act as its eye, and from which it can fire laser beams.
The body of a Guardian is covered with large wave-like designs. They also have a pink glow running through their bodies.
Appearances[]
Hyrule Warriors II[]
A giant Guardian appears as a boss in Hyrule Warriors II. Its attacks are similar to those performed by Gohma, and is also weak to the Bow weapon. A major difference between Gohma and the Guardian is that the latter travels around at a much faster speed, and is much more nimble. If left alone, the Guardian is capable of capturing all of the player's keeps in a very short amount of time.
Trivia[]
- Originally, Guardians had blue lights running through their bodies. [2]
