Kasumi's Island Quest is a platform game featuring Kasumi Tōmine from Alien Nine developed by Azumanga Interactive, published by Bandai Namco Games and co-published by Sega for the Bandai Chaos and Bandai PocketTurbo. It's a prequel to Kasumi's Castle Quest.

The game is a hack of the Sega Master System game Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

GameplayEdit

The game is primarily a platform game, which also incorporates strategy and roleplaying. The player must finish levels and overcome obstacles and scenarios in a 2D environment. Throughout the eleven stages of Kasumi's Island Quest, Kasumi faces many aliens, plus three Borgs, before facing the Yellow Knife himself.

Kasumi is the only playable character in the game. Her primary skill is punching, which she can use to attack enemies, break certain types of rocks to open blocks, and access new areas and collect money. Breaking or stepping on certain blocks releases a ghost that will try to kill Kasumi. The game requires more than the player's ability to accomplish specific phases. Any money Kasumi collects can be used to purchase items such as Motorcycles and small pedal-powered helicopters. At the end of certain levels, Kasumi must face omust face one of the aliens sent by Yellow Knife in a game of rock, paper, scissors.

The game consists of 17 stages, some of them with a strong atmosphere that differs from the rest. At the end of some stages, Kasumi has to face a Big Boss, whom she has to defeat by winning the best of three games of rock-paper-scissors. To finish a stage, Kasumi has to grab a sun flower object at the end of each stage. Kasumi can take only one hit before she dies. Kasumi's Island Quest does not have a battery save option or password system, meaning that when all of Kasumi's lives are gone the game is over. However, there's an unlimited continues code that will take you back to the beginning of the level where Kasumi had died, by holding the up button and pressing the 2 button four times during the GAME OVER screen.

PlotEdit

Kasumi goes on her vacation to her grandma's house, but then she gets kidnapped while sleeping by some aliens that sent her to another island far from her grandparent's house. The ruler of the island is the Yellow Knife, who sent Kasumi to his island so he can eat her for her soul.
