The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ game introduced a time traveling element into the series—this amiibo shows a 17-year old Link™ playing the ocarina that allowed him to warp back and forth across a seven-year gap to defeat the power-hungry Ganondorf.
This amiibo represents a 3-D imagining of the 8-bit Link from the original Legend of Zelda™ game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Armed only with a sword and shield, this hero set out to save the land of Hyrule and its imprisoned princess, Zelda, from the evil Ganon.
For information on the fighter for which this amiibo becomes, see Link (SSBStrife).
All variations of the Link amiibo are compatible with Super Smash Bros. Strife. Like with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, the amiibo becomes a Figure Player (FP) when scanned. While computer-controlled, the amiibo levels up as it fights, learning from its opponents as it does. Unlike in Super Smash Bros. 4, it can be levelled up to level 80 as opposed to 50. The FP collects collectible items during battle, which can be fully obtained by scanning the amiibo in the amiibo menu.
Data from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U is compatible with Super Smash Bros. Strife. Data from Super Smash Bros. Strife is not compatible with Super Smash Bros. 4, however, due to the higher level cap.
The Link amiibo, like all other amiibo, is compatible with Hyrule Warriors II. Like the other amiibo based on characters from the The Legend of Zelda series, the first time the amiibo is used, the player is granted an exclusive weapon. In the case of the Link amiibo, the player unlocks the Badge weapon for Link. Subsequent uses of the amiibo will grant a random weapon for Link, any of the Hylian Sword, Magic Rod, Great Fairy, Gauntlet, Horse, Spinner, or the aforementioned Badge; rated 3 stars or higher.
