Pac-Man (Japanese: パックマン Pakkuman), referred to in-game as PAC-MAN, is the namesake and main protagonist of the Pac-Man series, and a veteran fighter to the Super Smash Bros. series. Pac-Man was the third and, at the time of the game's release, final third party character announced to join the line-up of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, after Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Pac-Man does not have a voice actor, instead using a variety of 8-bit sound effects.
Pac-Man's wife, Ms. Pac-Man (Japanese: ミズパックマン Mizu Pakkuma), appears as an alternate character for Pac-Man. Despite taking up only a single costume slot, both the crowd and announcer acknowledge her as a separate character. Pac-Man also has his appearance from PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures as an alternate costume, though this costume is not treated as a separate character. Both Ms. Pac-Man and Ghostly Adventures Pac-Man use the same sound effects as Pac-Man, though the former's sound effects are slightly higher in pitch.
