The Shantae universe refers to the Shantae series in reference to its appearance within the Super Smash Bros. fighting game series. The Shantae series follows a half-genie of the same name, as she goes on adventures to primarily defeat the pirate Risky Boots. The Shantae series is a two-dimensional platforming game series, which sees Shantae using her hair to whip enemies, and use dances to transform into different forms. The character of Shantae was created by Erin Bozon, while many of the games would be directed by her husband Matt Bozon.
The Shantae series is primarily of independent development. Due to very few independent IPs being included in Super Smash Bros. in any capacity - with only CommanderVideo of Choice Provisions' BIT.TRIP series appearing as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - the Shantae series has never appeared in a canonical Smash Bros. title.
Canon Representation Edit
As previously stated, the series has not received any representation in canonical Super Smash Bros. titles.
Fanon Representation Edit
| ||Shantae||Shantae, Guardian Genie of Scuttle Town, is never afraid to dance through danger! Time and time again, she faces off against Risky Boots, who mercilessly attempts to invade and take over Sequin Land using her army of Tinkerbats. Shantae's always Ret-2-Go with the ability to transform into a number of different animal forms through her magical dances, which usually comes in handy when it comes to fighting foes.|
