The stage consists of four platforms. Three are located in a triangular pattern, all of which are flat. The one positioned on the right is the smallest platform on the stage, with the highest platform being the second-largest on the stage. The main platform, the longest platform and the one positioned lowest on the screen, has a small slope on its left edge.
All four platforms actually consist of two layers: one being made of stone, and one being a cloud. The stone layer can be attacked and destroyed. The cloud platforms are all semi-soft, meaning fighters can travel through them both below and above, while still being able to stand on it.
Smash Taunt[]
Tapping the up and down taunt buttons repeatedly as Pit will cause him to initiate a conversation with Palutena, Viridi, and in some cases other characters. The conversations that occur are dependant on the characters that are currently in battle, with the conversation being based around a single other character.
In the English version of the game, Pit is voiced by Antony Del Rio, Palutena is voiced by Brandy Kopp, Viridi is voiced by Hynden Walch. Dark Pit appears in the conversation about himself, and like Pit is also voiced by Antony Del Rio. Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening appears in the conversations for Robin, Itsuki, and Corrin, and is voiced by Matthew Mercer.
A large majority of the conversations from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are reused for the returning fighters. In addition, some conversations had regional differences in Super Smash Bros. 4, but do not in Strife.
Alph
Looks like Olimar's got some new tricks.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's not Olimar.
That's Alph. He's one of the three captains that crash landed upon PNF-404 during Pikmin 3.
If I remember right, he's the engineer of the S.S. Drake.
Could have fooled me. He looks just like Olimar... And he commands Pikmin.
A lot of Alph's attacks are similar to Olimar's, so it's a reasonable mistake.
Alph uses Rock Pikmin, which deal high damage and knockback but are very slow and heavy.
Rock Pikmin? Normal Pikmin were painful enough.
Baby Luigi
Why does this kid look a little familiar?
Would it help to know that kid's name is Luigi?
You can't mean Mario's brother, can you?
That's Baby Luigi, all right.
Still, fighting a baby? I can do that!
That's to be expected. Just remember that he won't hold back.
Baby Luigi will mainly use a hammer in battle.
When Baby Luigi gets a Smash Ball, watch out. He'll unleash a Chain Chomp that'll run rampant on the field.
Hammers, Chain Chomps... Where's he keeping this stuff? In his diaper?!
Would it surprise you if that was the answer?
Baby Mario
Is that a baby?!
That's not just any baby. That's Baby Mario.
Like... Mario, Mario?! I can't fight him!
It's a good thing to be concerned about fighting a baby. But you shouldn't hesitate with Baby Mario.
He has a large hammer that he won't hesitate to hit you with. He'll be coming at you with everything's he got!
You know, I'm a little surprised he hasn't got a Yoshi helping him.
Baby Mario's proven himself in the past. He once teamed up with his elder self to stop an alien invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Speaking of his elder self, wouldn't his presence mess up the timeline or something?
I'll see to it that that doesn't happen.
Bayonetta

Who is THAT?
I have no data on this fighter. I can't believe it!
It must be an intruder from another dimension!
Whoever it is, the goal remains the same: to fight and win!
Birdo
Why is Birdo named Birdo?
Whoever named her that must not know what a bird is.
I wonder if it has anything to do with how Birdo and Ostro's names were swapped in the Super Mario Bros. 2 credits.
How did someone mess up their names? Who wouldn't think an ostrich's name is Ostro?
Enough with this! Her name's Birdo, and that's that.
Another question: where do her eggs come from?
Well, you see...
Just get your head in the game, Pit! You're in the middle of a fight!
Oh... right.
Blaziken
Man, Blaziken's kicks are deadly.
Why are there so many Fire-type Pokémon in this game? Doesn't the director have any care for the environment?!
Charizard, Blaziken... the Fire-types seem to be the most popular.
If I was in charge, I'd get rid of the Fire-types and add a lot of Grass-type Pokémon. Like Meganium and Sceptile.
How can I beat him?
Personally, I prefer Water-types like Mudkip and Popplio.
Guys?!
Huh. I guess you're not as bad as I thought you were.
You guys!
Quiet down, Pit. Can't you see we're having a conversation here?
Sorry Lady Palutena.

Bowser
When I think of Bowser, I always picture him deep in his castle, steeling himself for a fight.
Or, you know, playing golf or racing a go-kart.
He's looking pretty aggro today. Must be because he's in a fighting game.
When Mario first fought Bowser, I hear he had to use an axe to chop down a rope bridge and drop the big guy.
It all sounds like something from an 8-bit action movie!
I won't lie. I'm a little scared.
Don't be. Bowser may be powerful, but he also leaves big openings. Fight smart and look for chances to counterattack.
Bowser Jr.
Is that Bowser Jr.?
Yes. He's the heir to the Koopa throne.
I wonder if his father bought him that Junior Clown Car. It's decked out with all sorts of bells and whistles.
Hey, I just thought of an even better name for it. How about... the Shellicopter?!
...Needless to say, the Junior Clown Car is one tricky vehicle.
It's immune to many attacks, so strike when Bowser Jr. is exposed.
So what you're saying is to hit him from above, right?
Captain Falcon
Charizard
Chibi-Robo
Cloud
That... is one big sword.
That is the Buster Sword, the signature weapon of Cloud Strife.
In what situation would a sword that big be useful?
Like you're one to talk. Those clubs you use are twice its size!
Yeah, but they're clubs... not swords.
Unlike you with your clubs, Cloud's quite skilled with the Buster Sword.
But that doesn't mean he's all melee: Cloud can use a variety of different ranged attacks.
Blade Beam? Cross Slash? Climhazzard? What kind of moves are these?
Keep an eye on Cloud's Limit Gauge. Once it fills up, his attacks become incredibly strong.
Corrin
...
You still haven't joined the fight?
That warrior... looks familiar.
Apparently, Corrin's the ambassador between the kingdoms of Nohr and Hoshido.
Whoa, wait... ambassador?! Will I get arrested for fighting them?
Not likely. I give Corrin the title of 'ambassador', but a more fitting term would be... prisoner?
Corrin is a member of the Hoshidan royal family, but was kidnapped at a young age and grew up believing to be a member of the Nohrian royal family.
I fought alongside that warrior once. I had no idea they were of royal blood.
That's it? That's all you wanted to say?!
So... why can Corrin transform into a dragon?
They must have the blood of a Manakete in them. Same pointed ears, the ability to transform into a dragon...
In this battle, Corrin doesn't need to use a Dragonstone to transform.
Daisy
Is that Peach? She looks very different!
No Pit. That's Daisy. Daisy is the princess of the desert kingdom of Sarasaland.
It's easy to forget that Daisy exists. She really only participates in the sporting competitions.
If I recall correctly, her kingdom was once attacked by the alien Tatanga.
So what do I have to expect from Daisy? Turnips and frying pans?
Try various sporting equipment.
Daisy is much more of a tomboy than Peach is, so watch out for her quick and powerful attacks.
She's not much of an aerial fighter, so you should attack her from the skies.
Hopefully your wings aren't that useless.
Dark Pit
Hey! It's Pittoo!
Will you quit calling me that?!
Now where did you disappear to after the fight with Hades?
Actually, Dark Pit works for me now. He's an officer in the Forces of Nature.
What?!
No way!
Just because we fought together once doesn't mean we're all buddy-buddy now.
In fact, the Lightning Chariot and Phosphora are also both under my command. The battle isn't over yet!
Viridi's interests and mine just happen to overlap, so for this fight, I'll be happy to launch you into the stratosphere!
Your powers are perfectly matched here.
It all comes down to skill!
Diddy Kong
Digby
Who's this?
His name's Digby. He's Isabelle's twin brother.
I knew that.
Digby has the same tricks up his sleeve as his sister does.
Remind me again... Who's Isabelle?
How are you the captain of the Skyworld army?
Dixie Kong
Donkey Kong
Dr. Mario
Duck Hunt
Elma
Falco
Fiora
Whoa! Spoilers!
How have you yet to beat Xenoblade Chronicles?
I know! I know! I was busy beating up Hades and all that, and then I couldn't afford the New Nintendo 3DS...
Oh woe is you.
Enough fooling around you two. Pit's in the middle of a battle.
Mecha-Fiora's skilled with her two swords. You'll need to wait for an opening to strike her.
Why don't you just use your wings to block her strikes?
What?! Are you nuts?!
Your wings have already been clipped right? What harm could come from it?

Hmm... The resemblance to Bowser Jr. is strong.
That Koopa Clown Car is the mass-produced type.
I guess as heir to the throne, Bowser Jr. would get preferential treatment.
The relationship between Bowser and the Koopalings is a real mystery.
I kinda feel bad for them.
That's sweet of you, but not very conducive to taking them down, Pit.
Ike
Inkling
Is this thing a kid or a squid?
It's both. The Inklings can transform into squids in order to traverse their ink easier.
Why squids though? Why not a cooler sea creature? Like an octopus.... Or a Kraken!
They actually can turn into Kraken should their Turf War gear allow them.
Speaking of Turf Wars, you're going to want to stay away from this Inkling's turf.
Right. They've got all sorts of weapons that can send you flying from a distance.
I just hope I don't get any of their ink in my wings.
Isaac
Isabelle
Itsuki
It says here that Itsuki comes from the Fire Emblem series? He doesn't look like Marth or Ike or Roy though...
Itsuki comes from a game called Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE. It's a crossover between Fire Emblem and a series called See My Gummy Ten Shoes.
I don't think that's right.
It doesn't matter what it's called. All you need to know Pit, is that Itsuki's a dangerous fighter.
How so?
He works together with a Mirage named Chrom to dish out damage.
Wait! Chrom?!
I don't really understand it myself, but that Chrom seems to be from another universe.
A Mirage of Chrom joined the battle before he did! Ha ha!
I'll get in someday, I'm sure.
How do you keep joining our conversations, anyway? Aren't we speaking through telepathy?
Sometimes it's better not to question some things.
Enough with the cameo appearances! Pit, focus on your fight!
Ivysaur
Hey! It's Ivysaur!
Don't. Hurt. Him.
It's Super Smash Bros.. It's all in the name of fun!
Ivysaur, the Seed Pokémon. The bulb on its back absorbs sunlight to increase its strength. When it blooms, it releases a sweet aroma.
Lady Palutena?! I thought I was listening to a Poké Dex entry!
Well I was reading from a Poké Dex.
You guys don't care about plants like I do, so let me take care of this, Lady Palutena.
Ahem.

Link
Linkle
What happened to Link?! Why is he a girl?!
Not quite. That's Linkle.
What kind of name is Linkle?
She's grown up believing that she's the incarnation of an ancient hero.
That's odd. I thought she shepherds Cuccos for a living.
Why doesn't she use a sword like Link does?
Probably to annoy you from afar.
Linkle uses two Crossbows infused with magical properties. They never run out of arrows and can even fire Bombs if she so wishes.
If I don't keep an eye on her, my wings will get clipped!
Pit's scared of a Cucco shepherd!
As long as you don't let your guard down, everything should work out fine.

That's right, the two of you fought Tabuu and the Subspace Army together.
Enough with the nostalgia trip!
Ness and Lucas use a lot of the same tricks. PK Thunder, PK Starstorm...
You may think that at first glance, but they're very different.
I'm aware of that. I'm the one down here fighting him.
Don't forget Pit, I'm in this fight too.

Mario
Mario 64
Why does Mario look so... boxy?
They call him Mario 64. Apparently, this is how Mario looked and acted in the original Super Smash Bros..
Did you know in the original Super Smash Bros. that fighters didn't have side special moves? Mario 64 doesn't have one either.
I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my trusty Upperdash Arm.
Didn't you have a different side special move when you battled in Brawl?
...We don't talk about that.
Now now, Pit. You should always acknowledge your past. Even if you don't want to.
Speaking of pasts you don't want to remember, how was your time as a statue?
...Anyway, Mario 64 may have some flaws, but he's a surprisingly powerful fighter.
Maybe you should set a better example for Pit, Lady Palutena.
Marth
Mega Man
Meloetta
Meta Knight
Mewtwo
What is that thing?! I have no data on it!
A character that Palutena doesn't have any data on? What is this thing?
I'm pretty sure it's Mewtwo. You know, the Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon?
He was in the last Smash Bros. game, remember?
There were so many characters in the last game. I was bound to miss someone.
I guess the Goddess of Light isn't as all-knowing as we thought she was.
Well watch closely Lady Palutena! I'll get you all of the data you need on this guy!
I think Mewtwo's actually a genderless Pokémon.
I'll get you all of the data you need on this monster!

Mr. Game & Watch
Ms. PAC-MAN
Oh, I loved playing Ms. PAC-MAN as a kid!
What made it different from the original PAC-MAN?
I always found it to be a bit tougher.
See, the Ghosts' movements were more random than in PAC-MAN, and the fruit would bounce around too.
I'm a little impressed... Nerd.
How did you get an arcade machine in Skyworld?
I may have... borrowed it from the Humans.

Paper Mario
Paper Mario's joined the battle too? I love those games!
Fanboy later. Right now, he's your opponent.
Paper Mario's got a lot of... Things that he can use in battle. Hammers, wrenches, a giant fan...
What are those things that he keeps summoning? They look like fairies.
Apparently twelve Pixls were created by a tribe of ancient people known as the... Tribe of Ancients. Who comes up with this stuff?
He may be made of paper, but your opponent is still Mario. Be ready for a challenge, Pit.
Right, no need to worry! I fought alongside Mario once, I've learned his weaknesses.
That may be so for the real Mario, but his paper counterpart's very different.
Just douse him with water! No paper can stand water!
I could probably just slice him up with my blades, too.
I thought I just told not to underestimate him.
Peach
Pichu
So we've got Pikachu and Pichu. Where's Raichu?
Raichu's not important right now. Pichu's the one you're fighting!
...Fine.
Last time Pichu was in a Smash Bros. game, he was a clone of Pikachu.
It's shocking how powerful this little guy is. You'd never expect such power from this guy.
Pichu's got some new tricks up his sleeve.
He can grab fighters with an electric webbing. No one knows where it comes from.
He's pretty light though, so it should be easy to take him out.
Good to know. Maybe if I hit him hard enough he'll evolve into Raichu.
Enough with Raichu!

Taking revenge for all those times Yoshi has thrown eggs at him and his brothers?
I'm sure his reasoning for joining the fight isn't as... bloodthirsty as that.
Regardless, this Shy Guy has a surprising amount of tools at his disposal.
Like what?
I dunno. Bullet Bill Blasters? I'd imagine stilts and spears too.
B-Bullet Bills?!
Don't tell me you're scared of a little guy like him.
He may have an armory hidden in his cloak, but he's still light.

This is what, the sixth Smash Bros. game? Why has it taken so long for Toad to join the battle?
It probably has something to do with him being a part of Peach's moveset.
There are more than one Toad though. I don't think that's a good enough excuse.
But Peach's has a red-spotted cap and blue vest.
That's an even dumber excuse!
Settle down you two. Maybe he just didn't want to join the battle until now.
Whatever the reason, he's in the game now. That makes him your opponent.
