Sonic Adventure 4: Flashback is a 2020 game, which goes back to Sonic's History for the previous years. This is a action, adventure, platformer, third-perrson shooter, strategy game. This is based on Sonic Adventure series, Sonic Rivals 2, Sonic Generations and Sonic Heroes.

- Team Sonic:
- Sonic the Hedgehog: The main protagonist of the series. In this game, he works with Shadow and Knuckles in Team Sonic as leader. His signature move is "Sonic Boom" and he can be played during Action stages.
- Shadow the Hedgehog: Sonic's arch-rival of the series. In this game, he works with Sonic and Knuckles in Team Sonic as second-in-command. His signature move is "Chaos Control" and he can be played during Hunting stages.
- Knuckles the Echidna: Sonic's friendly rival of the series. In this game, he works with Sonic and Shadow as field commander. His signature move is "Knuckle Slam" and he can be played during Battle stages.
- Chaos: The final boss of Sonic Adventure. He agrees to work with the boys, if the player defeats him in Radical Highway. His signature move is "Chaos Storm" and he can be played during Flight and Escape stages. After his defeat, Chaos has only one level throughout the other worlds until Center of Time, which the whole world is only for characters that joined their teams in the 11th stage. 2012 and 2013 stages also have one level.
- Team Psychic:
- Metal Sonic: Sonic's doppelganger of the series. In this game, he works with Silver and Mighty in Team Psychic as second-in-command. His signature move is "Copycat" and he can be played during Action stages.
- Silver the Hedgehog: Blaze's friend of the series. In this game, he works with Metal Sonic and Mighty in Team Psychic as leader. His signature move is "ESP" and he can be played during Hunting stages.
- Mighty the Armadillo: Member of Team Chaotix. In this game, he works with Metal Sonic and Silver in Team Psychic as field commander. His signature move is "Chaotix Armadillo" and he can be played during Battle stages.
- E-123 Omega: Member of Team Dark. After he revived, he agrees to help Team Psychic, if the player defeats him in Radical Highway. His signature move is "E-100 Blast" and he can be played during Flight and Escape stages. Like Chaos, he can only be played in one level, except 2011, which the world can be only played by the characters that joined the teams in 2002.
- Team Sol:
- Dr. Eggman: The main antagonist of the series. In this game, he works with Blaze and Vector as second-in-command. His signature move is "Eggman Robots" and he can be played during Battle stages.
