It is a hack of an 1989 arcade game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Super Kame Ninja/Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and an 1990 NES game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game/Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles II: The Arcade Game.
The player chooses from one of the four heroes: Kirby D. Alien, Pikachu, Vanellope von Schweetz, and Billy Hatcher. After XANA kidnaps the Kirby's friend William Dunbar and his hero Justin the Hedgehog, they must give chase, save their comrades, and defeat the evil XANA. Up to four players (two in the UC Advancer version) can take control of any of the heroes. Vanellope has slower attacks but a longer range, Pikachu and Billy have faster attacks but a shorter range, and Kirby is a well-rounded hero with average range and speed.
The eight-way joystick controls the movements of the hero, the jump button makes them jump and the attack button makes them hit in front of them using their weapon. In addition to this, some combinations are possible. The heroes can throw XANA's minions overhead, and by pressing the jump and attack buttons, a special attack is performed. Billy rolls along the ground and finishes with a kick, while the other heroes do a sweeping jump attack with their weapons. Heroes can also spring off the wall in certain areas. Enemies can be defeated more quickly by slamming them into walls or solid objects. Many objects such as traffic cones, parking meters, fire hydrants and exploding oil drums can be hit or damaged with attacks in order to help defeat nearby enemies
The majority of the enemies the heroes must face are XANA's minions. They wear a different colored uniform depending on what weapon they have. The purple-clad minions also have the ability to hold the heroes from behind, draining their health and leaving them open to attack by the other minions. The bosses in the game includes XANA-Formed Chowder and Finn (individually and together), Johnny X, Albendo, One of the Toonpersonators, Johnny Test (as Virtual Boy), and XANA himself.
UC Advancer VersionEdit
This version includes two new levels (the first part of Scene 3 and all of Scene 6), which feature new enemy characters, including two new bosses: Lord Garmadon (a bad guy from Ninjago) and Skales (another bad guy from Ninjago), both characters created for the game. Most of the original stages from the arcade version were extended as well and the second half of Scene 3, the parking garage stage, replaces the arcade version's end battle with XANA-Formed Chowder and Finn with a battle against Johnny Test (as Sky-Brat).
