Tom & Jerry Kids (also known as Tom & Jerry Kids: The Video Game) is a platforming game based on the Tom & Jerry Kids TV series from Hanna-Barbera developed and published by Taito for the Bandai Chaos and PocketTurbo. This is the only Tom & Jerry video game made outside of Hi-Tech.

Plot[]

Jerry and his friends are having a picnic in the house, but then Tom comes in and kidnaps all of Jerry's friends and locks them up in captivity, so it's up to Jerry to stop Tom and save his mice friends. Along the way, Jerry encounters characters from the show he must defeat to continue his rescue like McWolf, Calaboose Cal, Slowpoke Antonio, and others.

Gameplay[]

The game is a platformer where you control Jerry, he can jump on enemies, throw marbles (like in the Hi-Tech Tom & Jerry games), and use a special items for a limited time. You also have some power-ups including a slice of cheese which will give you some health back, a huge cheese which will refill you health, power springs that will make you jump higher than normal (you can only loose the springs if you die), and an invincibility power-up with Wildmouse killing enemies on screen. You also collect hearts which will give you 30 points, collecting 99 or more will earn you an extra life.

In the Bandai PocketTurbo version, the marbles are replaced by Jerry's red bows he throws. And some levels are shortened up or cut due to the size of the game.

Trivia[]

  • The Bandai Chaos version uses the same sound effects from the Atlus NES game "Wacky Races". While the Bandai PocketTurbo version mainly uses its own sound effects.
  • The theme song from the show is heard at the title screen in 8-bit rendition.
